NeurIPS Foundation Opens “Bridging the Future” Grants Program
The Neural Information Processing Systems Foundation is excited to announce the opening of the Bridging the Future grants program for this year. The program supports innovative activities that broaden participation in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
This initiative reflects NeurIPS’s commitment to expanding access to AI/ML education and research opportunities across all levels, from grade school students taking their first steps in computational thinking to senior faculty developing new pedagogical approaches. By investing in the next generation of AI researchers and practitioners, we aim to build a more diverse, inclusive, and vibrant research community.
What We’re Looking For
We particularly encourage innovative and novel approaches that have not been widely implemented in AI/ML education and outreach. While we welcome proposals that build upon successful existing models, preference will be given to programs that pioneer new strategies or adapt approaches from other fields in original ways.
Examples of fundable activities include:
- Workshops and training programs that employ innovative teaching methods
- Educational initiatives reaching underserved populations in novel ways
- Web-based materials and digital resources that enhance accessibility
- Programs designed to support young researchers at critical career stages
- Community-building activities that foster inclusion and belonging
Evaluation Criteria
Proposals will be prioritized based on:
- Novelty and innovation in approach or methodology
- Potential for broadening representation and inclusion in the field
- Demonstrated or anticipated high impact and reach
- Alignment with the goals of the Neural Information Processing Systems Foundation
Funding Details
The program offers funding up to $50,000 per proposal, with amounts varying based on the goals and anticipated impact of each project. Proposals will be evaluated on a rolling basis, with a target deadline of February 15, 2026.
How to Apply
We invite individuals, research groups, affinity groups, educational institutions, and community organizations to submit proposals. Whether you’re envisioning a local workshop series, a nationwide mentorship program, or a digital platform reaching global audiences, we want to hear from you.
